HB 25-1290: Transit Worker Safety

• Creates a new harassment offense for wrongfully interfering with a transit worker performing lawful duties, classified as a class 1 misdemeanor
• Defines "transit worker" to include bus operators, train operators, ticket inspectors, conductors, station customer assistants, and maintenance/repair personnel for mass transportation systems or commuter rail agencies
• Adds harassment of transit workers to the list of crimes qualifying victims for rights under Colorado's victim rights statutes
• Authorizes law enforcement agencies to grant Peace Officer Training and Support Fund money to the Regional Transportation District for training, equipment, and safety purposes
• Takes effect 90 days after legislative adjournment, subject to potential referendum in November 2026
