HB 25-1298: Judicial Performance Commissions

• Establishes the Twenty-Third Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance on December 1, 2025, with ten appointed members following standard district commission appointment procedures.

• Allows current members of the Eighteenth Judicial District Commission who reside in the Twenty-Third Judicial District to transfer their appointments and complete their existing terms on the new commission.

• Sets staggered initial terms for new commission members, with five positions expiring November 30, 2027 and five positions expiring November 30, 2029.

• Requires the Eighteenth Judicial District Commission to conduct interim judicial evaluations for judges in both the Eighteenth and Twenty-Third districts during 2025.

• Repeals the transitional provisions for the new commission effective July 1, 2028, and removes obsolete 2019 transition language from existing statute.
