Colorado General Assembly memorializes the 10th Mountain Division, an elite U.S. Army mountain warfare unit that trained at Camp Hale in Eagle County during World War II

Soldiers trained in rock climbing, skiing, and mountaineering skills for combat against Axis forces in mountainous and arctic conditions, including key battles at Riva Ridge and Mount Belvedere in Italy in February 1945

The division was demobilized on November 20, 1945, at Camp Carson, Colorado; veterans later created the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association, which preserves 30 huts in the area

President Biden designated Camp Hale as the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument on October 12, 2022, under the Antiquities Act

Resolution directs copies be sent to the 10th Mountain Division Foundation, Hut Association, U.S. Army Fort Drum, Colorado Snowsports Museum, county commissioners, and Colorado's congressional delegation
