Colorado General Assembly formally recognizes and commends the contributions and sacrifices of Latina/o veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces from the American Revolution to present day

Nearly 500,000 Latina/o Americans served in World War II, including the 158th Regimental Combat Team ("Bushmasters") and the all-Mexican-American Company E of the 141st Infantry Regiment

59 Hispanic or Latina/o veterans have received the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation's highest award for military valor, including 22 during the Vietnam War alone

More than 200,000 Latinas/os currently serve on active duty, and over 1.5 million Latina/o veterans reside in the United States, including Colorado

A copy of the resolution will be sent to the American GI Forum of Colorado, the veterans organization founded by Dr. Hector Garcia in 1948 to secure benefits for Latina/o veterans
