Colorado House Resolution designates March 31, 2025 as "César Chávez Day" to honor both César Chávez and Dolores Huerta for their contributions to farm worker rights

César Chávez (1927-1993) co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962, which became the United Farm Workers of America (UFW), and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 1994

Dolores Huerta, born in 1930 in New Mexico, co-led the UFW and coined the phrase "¡Sí se puede!" during a 1972 fast, advocating for women's economic justice alongside broader labor rights

UFW achievements included the first collective bargaining agreement for farm workers, first union contracts requiring rest periods and clean drinking water, bans on pesticide spraying near workers, and the 1975 California Agricultural Labor Relations Act

Resolution directs copies be sent to the Dolores Huerta Foundation, César Chávez Peace and Justice Committee of Denver, Colorado's congressional delegation, and various state and local officials
