CO HB1007

Requires the governor to appoint nine board members to the health insurance affordability board consisting of four registered Democrats, four registered Republicans, and one unaffiliated member.

Mandates at least one board member resides on the eastern plains in a county with no more than 50,000 residents and one member resides on the western slope in a county with no more than 50,000 residents at the time of appointment.

Directs the governor to attempt appointing board members reflecting diversity in race, ethnicity, immigration status, income, wealth, ability, and geography, including members from each congressional district when possible.

Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly, unless subject to a referendum petition, in which case it requires voter approval at the November 2026 general election.

Applies to board appointments made on or after the effective date of the act.
