Disabled veterans with 50% or more service-connected disability, loss of use of hands/feet, or blindness may register one motor vehicle without paying registration taxes and fees under current law

Allows eligible disabled veterans to choose an alternative license plate instead of the standard "D.V." disabled veteran plate or disabled woman veteran plate, provided they qualify for the alternative plate

Veterans selecting non-military alternative plates must pay any additional fees that exceed standard license plate costs

Exemption does not apply to commercial vehicles, implements of husbandry, or farm trucks/truck tractors taxed at reduced rates

Effective date of August 12, 2026, applying to vehicles registered on or after that date
