HB 26-1115: Prepaid Wireless Telecommunications Service Charges Modifications

• Corrects erroneous cross-references in statutes governing the three prepaid wireless charges: 911 charge, 988 crisis hotline charge, and telephone disability access (TDA) charge

• Expands the definition of "prepaid wireless telecommunications service" to include services sold in predetermined units of time or money that decline with use, or unlimited service for a fixed period

• Adds providers of free prepaid wireless services using federally supported programs to the definition of retail transactions and charge remittance requirements, ensuring they pay the prepaid wireless 911 and 988 charges

• Authorizes the Department of Revenue to require electronic filing and payment for the prepaid wireless 988 charge and to disclose confidential tax information for all three prepaid charges to the Public Utilities Commission and relevant enterprises

• Clarifies that telecommunications services not subject to prepaid wireless charges remain subject to other applicable 911, 988, and TDA charges imposed by law
