Coroners must electronically report toxicology results to the Colorado Department of Transportation for all persons who died in motor vehicle crashes, upon request by the department

Reports are due by the final business day of each calendar quarter; if results are unavailable, submission may be delayed to the following quarter when complete

Required toxicology information includes blood alcohol concentrations, drug screening panels, and the date, time, and source of sample collections

Replaces the previous requirement for monthly written reports about crash deaths and circumstances with the new quarterly electronic toxicology reporting system

Effective date: August 12, 2026 (90 days after legislative adjournment), unless subject to referendum petition
