Recognizes January as National Blood Donor Month in Colorado, continuing a designation that began nationally more than 55 years ago to address historically low blood supplies during that month

Urges all Colorado citizens to celebrate blood donation and recognize volunteer donors, noting that only 3% of the age-eligible population donates blood despite transfusions occurring every two seconds in the U.S.

Encourages businesses and organizations throughout Colorado to sponsor community-based blood drives with Vitalant and other blood centers

Acknowledges Vitalant's more than 80 years of service collecting and distributing blood products to patients including cancer patients, trauma victims, newborns, transplant recipients, and those with sickle cell disease

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to Vitalant Denver Donation Center, Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
