Commemorates the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II and honors Colorado veterans who served from 1941-1945

Approximately 250,000 Coloradans served in WWII, with over 3,500 killed in action or dying from battlefield wounds; more than half of those killed have remains that are unrecovered or buried overseas

Recognizes Colorado's notable WWII military units: the 10th Mountain Division (trained at Camp Hale) and the 157th Infantry Regiment, which spent 511 days in continuous combat and liberated the Dachau concentration camp

Acknowledges the Colorado Freedom Memorial in Aurora, dedicated in 2013, as the only veterans memorial in Colorado to honor all fallen service members by name since the Spanish-American War
