Colorado General Assembly memorializes the 10th Mountain Division, an elite U.S. Army mountain warfare unit that trained at Camp Hale in Eagle County during World War II

Soldiers trained in rock climbing, skiing, and mountaineering at Camp Hale before fighting in the Italian Alps and Apennines, including the February 1945 battles at Riva Ridge and Mount Belvedere where hundreds perished

The division was demobilized on November 20, 1945, at Camp Carson, Colorado; veterans later created the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association, which preserves 30 huts for public use

President Biden designated Camp Hale as the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument on October 12, 2022, using the federal Antiquities Act

Resolution directs copies be sent to the 10th Mountain Division Foundation, Hut Association, Colorado's U.S. Senators and Representatives, and county commissioners in Eagle, Summit, and Lake counties
