Defines "neonatal intensive care unit" (NICU) as an inpatient facility providing continuous, specialized medical care for critically ill or medically fragile infants, including units where infants are transferred directly after birth or due to escalating medical needs.

Maintains existing FAMLI program benefit duration of 12 weeks maximum per application year, with up to 4 additional weeks available for pregnancy or childbirth complications.

Continues the existing extension (effective January 1, 2026) of up to 12 additional weeks for covered individuals with a child receiving inpatient care in a NICU.

Creates a new extension of up to 2 additional weeks for claims arising on or after January 1, 2027, following the death of a family member for whom the covered individual was using FAMLI leave to provide care.

Bereavement extension leave must be used within one year of both the family member's death and the end of the application year.
