Redefines "public adjuster" to specifically include persons who prepare, document, submit, negotiate, adjust or settle first-party property claims on behalf of an insured for compensation under personal or commercial risk insurance policies.

Excludes lawyers settling claims for clients from being classified as public adjusters.

Mandates public adjusters use written employment contracts with insureds that must include a two-day cancellation provision (posted by certified mail, or until Tuesday if signed on a weekend).

Prohibits public adjusters from soliciting insureds between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.

Effective date: October 1, 2010.
