Repeals restrictions on retired teachers receiving retirement benefits from being employed in public school teaching positions, allowing them to work up to one full school year in designated subject shortage areas.

Retired teachers reemployed under this act may earn full salary (rather than limited to 45% of maximum) if hired by local boards of education, the State Board of Education, or higher education institutions for shortage areas.

Requires employers to submit written requests to the Teachers' Retirement Board for reemployment extensions beyond one school year, certifying no qualified candidates are available and specifying assignment details and duration.

Prohibits reemployed retired teachers from earning continuing contract status, from receiving benefits under section 10-183t during employment, and from providing survivor's benefits through reemployment.

Reemployed teachers receive the same health insurance benefits as active teachers and maintain their original retirement benefit plan during reemployment.
