Creates a class A misdemeanor offense for minors ages 13-17 who knowingly possess sexually explicit images of minors ages 13-15 that were voluntarily transmitted to them electronically.

Creates a class A misdemeanor offense for minors ages 13-15 who knowingly and voluntarily transmit sexually explicit images of themselves to other minors ages 13-17 via electronic communication devices.

Adds affirmative defenses to child pornography possession charges (first, second, and third degree) allowing defendants to avoid conviction if their conduct would instead constitute a violation of the new sexting offense.

Modifies sentencing requirements for child pornography possession offenses with mandatory minimum imprisonment periods: five years for first degree, two years for second degree, and one year for third degree.

Effective October 1, 2010.
