Prohibits individual and group health insurance policies from requiring coverage of prescription drugs only through mail order pharmacies as a condition of obtaining benefits.

Prohibits insurers from imposing different copayments, reimbursement amounts, drug supply limits, or other payment conditions on prescription drugs based on whether they are obtained from in-network versus out-of-network retail pharmacies.

Prohibits insurers from using monetary advantages, penalties, or other methods that could influence an insured's choice of pharmacy, including higher copayments, reduced reimbursement, or preferential promotion of one pharmacy over another.

Applies to individual health insurance policies issued under Section 38a-510 and group medical benefits contracts under Section 38a-544.

Effective January 1, 2011.
