Effective July 1, 2011, all student suspensions must be in-school suspensions unless administration determines the student poses danger to persons/property or disruption to the educational process, in which case the student may be excluded from school.

In-school suspensions may be served in the student's school or any other school building under the jurisdiction of the local or regional board of education.

Commissioner of Education must analyze the costs to school districts of implementing the in-school suspension requirement and evaluate impact on districts of different sizes.

Commissioner must submit findings and report to the joint standing committees on local government and boards of education by December 1, 2010.
