Tanning facilities must post a sign visible to all entering patrons that includes warnings about health risks, instructions for device use, and notice that complaints may be directed to the municipal health department or health district.

All consumers must read and sign a statement containing health risk warnings about tanning device use before using any tanning device.

Signs and statements required by the bill must be approved by the municipal health department or health district in the municipality where the tanning facility is located.

Operators who knowingly allow persons under 16 years of age to use tanning devices without written parental or guardian consent face fines of up to $100, with fines payable to the municipal health department or health district.

Municipal health departments and district departments of health are authorized to enforce the bill's provisions within their available resources, effective October 1, 2010.
