Requires health care providers employed by or acting on behalf of health care facilities to wear photographic identification badges in plain view during normal working hours if they provide direct patient care.

Identification badges must include the name of the health care facility or institution, the name of the health care provider, and the type of license, certificate, or employment title held by the provider.

Applies to employees and agents of hospitals, nursing homes, home health care agencies, emergency medical services organizations, mental health facilities, assisted living services agencies, and other licensed health care facilities and institutions.

Health care facilities and institutions must develop policies and procedures concerning the size, content, and format of identification badges in consultation with the Department of Public Health.

Takes effect October 1, 2010.
