Increases minimum professional liability insurance requirements for chiropractors, physicians, naturopaths, podiatrists, physical therapists, radiologist assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, and optometrists from $500,000 to $1,000,000 per occurrence effective October 1, 2010.

Increases aggregate professional liability insurance limits from $1,500,000 to $3,000,000 for all specified health care provider categories.

Applies to all licensed providers in these professions who provide direct patient care services and must maintain insurance or other indemnity against malpractice claims.

Exempts advanced practice registered nurses certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists when providing services under the direction of a licensed physician from the insurance requirement.

Most provisions take effect October 1, 2010, with radiologist assistant requirements effective July 1, 2011.
