HB 5308 - Refuse Removal or Disposal Contract Renewals

• Refuse removal or disposal contracts with renewal provisions longer than one year are unenforceable unless the service provider sends written or electronic notice to the customer at least 90 days before the contract expiration date

• The required notice must inform the customer of their opportunity to cancel the contract at the end of the initial term

• Renewal provisions are unenforceable unless the customer agrees to the renewal in writing or electronically after receiving the provider's notice

• The act takes effect October 1, 2011
