Amends Connecticut General Statutes Section 7-282 to authorize local police departments in cities, towns, and boroughs to charge fees for motor vehicle accident and investigative reports.

Charges $8 for each search of record files that results in no document being produced.

Charges $16 for each copy of a motor vehicle accident or investigative report provided.

Requires police departments to preserve accident investigation records (memoranda, sketches, charts, statements, reports, and photographs) for at least ten years from the accident date.

Takes effect October 1, 2011, and aligns local police authority with the Commissioner of Public Safety's existing authority to charge for such reports.
