Commissioner of Education shall adopt regulations establishing an implementation schedule requiring all school buses purchased or leased by municipalities and local or regional school districts to be powered by electricity.

Regulations must be adopted in accordance with chapter 54 of the general statutes.

Act becomes effective October 1, 2011.

Purpose is to ensure newly-purchased or leased school buses are energy efficient and less expensive to operate.
