Permits owners of registered private passenger motor vehicles to request suspension of insurance coverage by electronic mail in addition to signed written requests.

Requires insurers to suspend insurance coverage upon receipt of a request when the owner states the vehicle will not be operated for a minimum of thirty consecutive days.

Allows suspension only of coverage requested by the owner under the policy providing required security, with all insurance provisions reinstated if the vehicle is operated during the suspension period.

Effective date is October 1, 2011, amending section 38a-371(f) of the general statutes.

Does not apply to motor vehicles for which proof of financial responsibility is required under sections 14-112 to 14-133.
