HB 6463 Summary

• Extends the foreclosure mediation program deadline from July 1, 2012 to July 1, 2014 for residential real property foreclosures with return dates between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2014.

• Requires mortgagees to provide mortgagors with notice of the foreclosure mediation program and mediation request forms when commencing foreclosure actions on residential properties.

• Suspends the mortgagor's obligation to respond in foreclosure actions and prohibits mortgagees from seeking default or judgment until the mediation period expires or terminates and fifteen additional days have elapsed.

• Establishes mediation procedures including first sessions within fifteen business days, with mediators determining within two days whether further mediation would benefit the parties.

• Effective July 1, 2011, amending Connecticut General Statutes sections 49-31l and 49-31n.
