Commissioner of Public Health shall determine immunization standards based on recommendations from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American Academy of Family Physicians.

State immunization program shall provide vaccines at no cost to health care providers to eliminate cost barriers, distribute immunization schedules and record-keeping materials through hospitals, and identify underimmunized children.

Health care providers administering vaccines through the federal Vaccines For Children program and the state immunization program may select any FDA-licensed vaccine, including combination vaccines, recommended by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management shall determine annual appropriations for purchasing, storing, and distributing vaccines and related communicable disease treatments and services.

Domestic insurers and health care centers doing business in Connecticut shall pay annual health and welfare fees to fund the immunization program, calculated as a percentage of total appropriations based on life and health insurance premiums.
