Requires individual and group health insurance policies to cover breast magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with guidelines established by the American Cancer Society or American College of Radiology, effective January 1, 2012.

Mandates coverage for comprehensive ultrasound screening of breast tissue when a mammogram shows dense or heterogeneous breast tissue, or when a woman is at increased risk for breast cancer based on family history, prior cancer diagnosis, genetic testing, or physician recommendation.

Extends the notification period for insurers regarding newborn children from 31 days to 61 days after birth, during which parents must notify the insurer and pay required premiums to continue coverage beyond the initial period.

Clarifies that claims originating within the 61-day notification period are not prejudiced by failure to provide timely notice or payment during that window.

Applies to all individual and group health insurance policies delivered, issued, renewed, amended or continued in Connecticut.
