Department of Children and Families must respond to written foster family vacation requests within 14 days of submission.

If the department fails to respond within 14 days, the travel request for overnight out-of-state travel is automatically deemed approved.

Commissioner of Children and Families shall adopt regulations to implement this section in accordance with state law.

Effective date is October 1, 2011.

Purpose is to prevent processing delays from blocking foster children from taking vacations with their foster families.
