Removes language defining assault weapons to include "selective-fire firearms capable of fully automatic, semiautomatic or burst fire," narrowing the definition to semiautomatic firearms only.

Maintains a list of 47 specifically named semiautomatic firearms classified as assault weapons, including AK-47 types, AR-15 variants, Uzis, and Street Sweeper shotguns.

Expands assault weapon definition to include semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns not on the specific list if they meet criteria such as detachable magazines plus at least two additional features (e.g., folding stocks, pistol grips, flash suppressors, grenade launchers).

Classifies parts or combinations of parts designed to convert firearms into assault weapons, or parts that can be rapidly assembled into assault weapons, as assault weapons themselves.
