Allows persons convicted of motor vehicle offenses resulting in death or serious physical injury to make a statement expressing apology, sympathy, condolence, or compassion before sentencing in a closed courtroom.

Court may consider the content of such statements when determining the sentence to be imposed for the offense.

Statements are inadmissible as evidence of admission of liability or admission against interest in any civil or criminal proceeding.

"Serious physical injury" has the same meaning as provided in section 53a-3 of the general statutes.

Effective October 1, 2011.
