Prohibits insurers, fraternal benefit societies, hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health care centers, and other health insurance entities from imposing greater out-of-pocket expenses (coinsurance, copayments, deductibles, or other expenses) on nonpreferred brand name drugs than on preferred brand name drugs for individual health insurance policies.

Applies the same prohibition to group health insurance policies that provide prescription drug coverage.

Effective date is January 1, 2012 for both individual and group health insurance policies.

Referred to the Committee on Insurance and Real Estate with a Joint Favorable recommendation.
