Individual and group health insurance policies must provide coverage for colorectal cancer screening, including annual fecal occult blood tests and colonoscopies, flexible sigmoidoscopies, or radiologic imaging in accordance with American College of Gastroenterology recommendations.

Eliminates the effective date limitation of October 1, 2001, making the requirement apply to all policies delivered, issued, amended, renewed or continued in the state.

Prohibits health insurers from imposing coinsurance, copayments, deductibles, or other out-of-pocket expenses for any additional colonoscopy ordered by a physician during a policy year.

Exception applies to high deductible health plans, which are not subject to the no-cost colonoscopy requirement.

Effective date: January 1, 2012 for both individual and group health insurance policies.
