Creates new crime of "assault of a school employee" effective September 1, 2011, defined as intentionally causing physical injury to a school employee while they are performing their duties or because of their duties

Defines "school employee" as any paid employee of a local, regional board of education, or private elementary or secondary school

Establishes assault of a school employee as a class A misdemeanor, with second or subsequent offenses by persons age 18 or older elevated to a class D felony

Adds assault of a school employee to the definition of "serious juvenile offense" in section 46b-120, effective September 1, 2011, with modifications effective July 1, 2012
