Individual health insurance policies in Connecticut providing prescription drug coverage shall not deny coverage for refills of chronic illness medications when refills are synchronized according to a plan agreed upon by the insured, practitioner, and pharmacist.

Group health insurance policies in Connecticut providing prescription drug coverage shall not deny coverage for refills of chronic illness medications when refills are synchronized according to a plan agreed upon by the insured, practitioner, and pharmacist.

The requirements apply to policies covering the types specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes.

The act takes effect January 1, 2013.
