Certified police officers moving to a different law enforcement unit in Connecticut are exempt from physical fitness testing requirements that apply to new officer candidates.

Certified police officers transferring to another law enforcement unit in Connecticut are not required to repeat the basic police training program.

Police officers must still meet all other entry-level requirements established by the council when seeking employment with a different law enforcement unit.

Removes a previous provision allowing certified police officers to accept employment with another police department without repeating minimum basic training, replacing it with more specific lateral transfer requirements.

Effective date: July 1, 2012.
