Prohibits manufacture, sale, and distribution of portable electric generators in Connecticut without carbon monoxide and oxygen sensors, effective January 1, 2014.

Requires carbon monoxide sensors to measure ambient air levels and automatically shut down the generator if levels exceed the threshold established in Underwriters Laboratories Standard Number 2034.

Requires oxygen sensors to measure ambient air oxygen content and automatically shut down the generator if oxygen levels fall below 19.5 percent by volume.

Takes effect October 1, 2012, creating a transition period before the January 1, 2014 compliance deadline for manufacturers and sellers.
