Allows inmates in Department of Correction drug dependent, work release, or education release programs to request remaining in a correctional facility for up to 90 days beyond their scheduled parole release or discharge date.

Permits any inmate to request a 30-day extension beyond discharge if scheduled to transfer to a treatment program or health care institution that cannot accept them on the discharge date, or for any compelling reason consistent with rehabilitation or treatment.

Allows persons under Department of Correction jurisdiction participating in programs operated by other state departments to request remaining in such programs for up to 90 days beyond their scheduled parole release or discharge date.

Requires inmates or persons requesting extensions to submit written requests to the Commissioner of Correction at least one week before their scheduled parole release or discharge date.

Permits departments to charge reasonable daily fees to inmates or persons receiving permission to remain in facilities or programs beyond their scheduled discharge date.
