Each nursing home facility must establish a grievance policy ensuring resident grievances are resolved in a timely manner, effective October 1, 2012.

Residents may elect to have their grievances resolved by a grievance committee; if they decline, the nursing home administrator must resolve the grievance in a timely manner.

Each nursing home facility must establish a grievance committee consisting of two employees appointed by the administrator and one resident elected annually by the facility's residents.

The grievance committee shall review and recommend changes to the grievance policy and resolve grievances that residents elect to have the committee address in a timely manner.
