Coaches of intramural or interscholastic athletics must complete an initial training course on concussions and head injuries before the 2010-2011 school year and annually thereafter review current materials on the topic.

Starting in the 2015-2016 school year, coaches must complete a refresher course on concussions and head injuries every five years as a condition for permit reissuance.

State Board of Education must develop or approve a training course by July 1, 2010 covering symptom recognition, obtaining medical treatment, risks of continued play, and return-to-activity protocols.

By January 1, 2013, State Board of Education must create a written statement about concussions and head injuries for parents and legal guardians of student athletes.

Starting in the 2013-2014 school year, coaches must provide parents or legal guardians with the concussion statement and obtain their signature before the athletic season begins.

Coaching permits may be revoked for violations of these requirements.
