Defines "act of violence" as physical attacks resulting in death, loss of consciousness, serious injury requiring medical treatment, or impeded breathing/circulation, or verbal threats of such acts that employers reasonably believe are real, immediate, and capable of being carried out.

Requires health care employers to report any act of violence against employees to local law enforcement within 24 hours, including names and addresses of those involved.

Allows health care employers discretionary reporting (not mandatory) when violence is committed by a person with a disability if the conduct is a clear and direct manifestation of that disability.

Changes the reporting standard from "assault or related offense" language to the new "act of violence" definition.

Effective immediately upon passage.
