Expands the definition of persons barred from inheriting from a murder victim to include those found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, in addition to those convicted of murder.

Persons barred from inheriting are treated as if they predeceased the victim with respect to wills, intestate succession, and beneficiary rights.

Severs joint tenancies with rights of survivorship held by the barred person and converts them to tenancies in common, effective when the adjudication or finding becomes final.

Bars named beneficiaries of life insurance policies and annuities who intentionally cause the death of the insured person, whether convicted or found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Takes effect October 1, 2012, and amends Connecticut General Statutes Section 45a-447.
