Allows inmates in Department of Correction programs (drug dependent, work release, or education release) to request remaining in a correctional facility for up to 90 days beyond their parole release or discharge date.

Permits any inmate to request remaining in a correctional facility for up to 30 days beyond discharge if scheduled for transfer to a treatment program or health care institution that cannot accept them on the scheduled date, or for any compelling reason consistent with rehabilitation or treatment.

Allows persons under Department of Correction jurisdiction in programs operated by other state departments to request remaining in such programs for up to 90 days beyond their parole release or discharge date.

Requires written requests to the Commissioner of Correction to be submitted no later than one week prior to scheduled parole release or discharge date.

Authorizes the appropriate department to charge a reasonable daily fee to inmates or persons granted permission to remain beyond their scheduled release or discharge date.
