Each nursing home facility must establish a grievance policy to ensure resident grievances are resolved in a timely manner, effective October 1, 2013.

Residents may elect to have grievances resolved by a grievance committee; if a resident declines, the facility administrator shall resolve the grievance in a timely manner.

Each nursing home facility may establish a grievance committee consisting of two facility employees appointed by the administrator and one resident elected annually by the facility residents.

The grievance committee shall review and suggest changes to the grievance policy as necessary and resolve grievances that residents elect to have reviewed by the committee in a timely manner.
