Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection shall establish an emergency alert system to help law enforcement apprehend suspects who killed or seriously injured peace officers or locate missing peace officers

System activation requires consultation with requesting law enforcement agency and determination that sufficient descriptive information exists about the suspect, vehicle, or missing officer's circumstances

Alert can only be issued if a peace officer was assaulted resulting in death or serious injury by an unapprehended suspect posing imminent threat, or if a peace officer is missing under circumstances warranting safety concerns

Public dissemination must potentially assist in apprehending suspect, locating missing officer, or preventing injury while not compromising investigation or violating privacy of affected officer or next-of-kin
