Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Social Services, shall develop a sliding tuition scale based on family income for preschool programs at interdistrict magnet schools, effective fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 and thereafter.

For fiscal year 2015 and beyond, interdistrict magnet schools offering preschool programs outside the Sheff region may charge tuition to parents/guardians according to the sliding scale, with the Department of Education responsible for any unpaid portion.

For fiscal year 2015 and beyond, interdistrict magnet schools that began operations after July 1, 2008 (Sheff-related schools) offering preschool programs may charge tuition to parents/guardians according to the sliding scale, with the Department of Education covering unpaid amounts.

For fiscal years 2013-2014, tuition charging for preschool programs is phased in: fiscal year 2013 has no tuition charges, and fiscal year 2014 allows charging to the Department of Education.

Department of Education must report to the education committee by February 1, 2014 on diversity and integration levels in schools within the Sheff region, including minority student enrollment percentages and analysis of progress toward Sheff settlement goals.
