Requires hospitals or physician-hospital organizations to provide written notice to affected patients at least 90 days before a contract with an insurer, health care center, or medical service corporation expires.

Notice must include the expiration date, statement that the provider may no longer be in-network, procedures to continue or secure alternative coverage, and contact information for the provider, insurer, and Office of the Healthcare Advocate.

Mandates hospitals or physician-hospital organizations obtain certification or accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance or URAC at least 30 days before contract expiration demonstrating the provider network will meet adequacy requirements.

Requires submission of the certification or accreditation to the Insurance Commissioner before the contract expires.

Effective October 1, 2013.
