Extends workers' compensation coverage for cardiac emergencies (cardiac arrest or myocardial infarction) occurring to paid municipal firefighters, police officers, and constables who began employment on or after July 1, 1996

Presumes cardiac emergencies resulting in death or disability are work-related if they occur during training, fire duty, or other public safety operations within the scope of employment, or up to 72 hours after completion of such activities

Reverses the burden of proof so that employers must demonstrate by preponderance of evidence that the cardiac condition was not work-related, rather than the employee proving it was

Requires that affected employees passed a physical examination upon entry into service that showed no evidence of pre-existing cardiac conditions

Includes municipal constables authorized to make arrests who have completed Police Officer Standards and Training Council certification
