Defines "telemedicine" as the use of interactive audio, video, or data communication to deliver medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment, excluding facsimile and audio-only telephone services.

Requires individual health insurance policies to provide coverage for telemedicine services to the same extent as in-person consultations, subject to the same terms and conditions as other policy benefits.

Requires group health insurance policies to provide coverage for telemedicine services to the same extent as in-person consultations, subject to the same terms and conditions as other policy benefits.

Applies to health insurance policies providing coverage types specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11), and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes.

Takes effect January 1, 2014.
