Substitute Bill No. 1034 - Veterans Affairs

• Replaces all references to "Veterans' Administration" with "United States Department of Veterans Affairs" throughout Connecticut General Statutes to reflect current federal agency naming.

• Updates veteran benefit eligibility and disability rating determinations to reference the correct federal agency for property tax exemptions, educational benefits, motor vehicle registrations, and pension eligibility.

• Modernizes gender-specific language by adding "or she" and "or her" pronouns throughout statutes addressing veterans' benefits and spousal provisions.

• Applies to multiple benefit programs including escheat property claims, civil service employment preferences, housing assistance, fishing licenses, and property tax exemptions for disabled veterans and surviving spouses.

• All sections take effect upon passage of the act.
